weeper

Word of the Day

weeper
Term describing a bottle of wine that is leaking slightly (weeping) around the cork. This can be caused by a faulty cork or by poor storage where a cork that wasn't kept moist shrank. Weepers aren't necessarily bad bottles of wine, although it's possible that spoilage could have occurred.
The new Wine Lover's Companion is brimming with definitions of terms from the wine industry, including grape types and where they grow, wine-tasting lingo, and even events in the history of the intoxicating beverage. Includes pronunciation guides.
