The season's first batch of Beaujolais Nouveau from France began arriving Friday at major airports across Japan. Here, customs officials at New Kitakyushu Airport check a consignment. Wine lovers will start uncorking bottles of their beloved red wine on Thursday. A total of 6,000 crates, containing 82,000 bottles, arrived at the airport in Kyushu, according to importers. It was the first batch for the airport, which opened in March 2006. This year's Beaujolais Nouveau has a rich, fruity flavor thanks to clear weather during the picking season.
