Mie Ikeno is one of the few winemakers in the world who handles the entire process herself - from clearing the land to growing the grapes, then fermenting the wine and even marketing. It was when she visited the Bourgogne region that she realized what kind of wine she wanted to aim for. Japan has its own indigenous grape varieties, such as Koshu. But Ikeno focuses on using the same kind of grapes as are grown in the Bourgogne wine region.
